I have a ants nest in a bedroom up stairs but I also have a dog and a child so what would be the safest way to get rid without little one and dog getting their hands on it?

Ants like sugar or protein and the right bait for the type of ants is needed. The bait comes in little plastic disks and can be placed out of the reach of little hands and the dog. The ants go into the bait station and take the bait to the nest.

A protein bait can be found in the stores and Terro is good for the ants that like sugar.

You need to take 2 tbs of Borax, 2 tbs of sugar, and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well, then put in several cotton balls. After they have soaked up the Borax mixture, place the balls on the visible ant trails. They will go into a feeding frenzy, take back the borax to their nest, and kill the nest.
