Bed Bugs Question! Should we be worried?

I think you should be okay. Did you bag up the clothes you were wearing when you took off the skirting? Bed bugs can hitch hike on clothes, but usually only if there are many or they're very hungry.

Just keep an eye out for a bit. I seriously doubt you'll get an infestation. The garage was clutter free and concrete doesn't provide much hiding. The sofa was taped up, so there should be no problem with it by the curb.

I might ask the used furniture place to pay for an inspection though- they did SELL you an infested couch.

Okay here's the story, I will try to be clear and simple;

8:30am - We have a couch delivered that we bought from a second hand store. We have them put it in our garage. Our garage is not cluttered, very open and clean and the couch was not touching or near anything else, just out in the middle of a concrete floor.

10:00pm (same day) - We decide to see if we can take off the skirting. We flip it over. We haven't cleaned it so we are not touching it with our hands much, just using pliers to take out staples in the upholstery. We see a bed bug in a fold, and then another one.

10:30pm - We immediately decide to take the couch to the curb. So we set it out. (A normal length driveway). We clean up our garage and take showers.

11:30pm- After more research, I read somewhere that they can still travel out even from the curb. I didn't want neighbors or us to get them so we go down to the curb and spend 45min taping up the couch in plastic to seal it.

The next morning we called the store we bought it from and we get our money back. They however weren't able to pick it up for two days.

My questions -

Are we at risk for them being in our house the 12+ hour time it was sitting in our garage?

Are we at risk for the two days it was sitting taped up by the curb?

I have read so much conflicting information, I would love to get some peoples viewpoint on this. What do you think? What would you do in this situation?

Thank you for reading!
