Have a high velocity fan that discharges above the roof installed. When you open the door, turn on the fan. this should create a draught up through the roof discharge fan and draw air in through the screen door. The bees should be attracted to the roof instead of your screen door.
Bees fly on our porch and we think through a vent to come inside.
We think they are looking for food and they might smell something sweet. Their hive has to be in a tree that's in a group of trees behind us. There's a hive somewhere and it should be in a tree or in a wall in an outside building at a neighbors.
The bees did gather on some soda cans that we had in a sack on the porch, so we can't put the cans on the porch anymore. Making sure there are not any flowers or cans on the porch cut down on the number of bees. And pet food. We saw some on some cat food.
They can and do build in your walls. I have seen pictures of huge hives in between the walls. Maybe they are trying to get home and when you open the windows they try to take a short cut. Call a beekeeper. Don't kill honey bees. They are scarce and we need them.
Call a bee keeper and sell them the hive. They will be happy to come and get the bees. Jo Ann
Put of screens in doors and Windows
So for I don't know how many years, honey bees have tried to get in my house when I open a window. I've tried on and off to find answers for this via asking around and searching the internet and no one seems to have my problem.
Here is my info based on information I've found already found that isn't correct.
I live in AMERICA. Southern states.
The bees are trying to come INTO house from OUTSIDE. Not trying to escape from the inside.
I have never found bees inside my house anywhere at any time.
THESE ARE NOT YELLOW JACKETS. I'm not challenged in the species department. Mistaking a yellow jacket for a bee is like mistaking a possum for a cat.
whats even stranger is if you walk in my yard you will never notice any bees. You'll never hear that loud buzzing sound you hear when you're near a hive. If I open any window in my house, within a minuet there will be a lot of bees swarming that window, landing on the screen and beating into it. I never see any gathering anywhere on the outside of my house either.
Its never been a huge problem, but this year during the summer months I'd love to be able to just have the screen door closed, AND not be scared shitless every time I walk through it.
any ideas welcome.
