A good 'real' weedkiller is the best option.
Any systemic weedkiller - generally Glyphosate based - will work well.
These are only absorbed by foliage, so you need to wait until the weeds are visibly growing.
Spray according to the instructions and wait. It takes several days (7 - 14) before there is any visible effect - then the whole plant, including the roots, dies off.
(The quick-acting ones, or eg. burning off, frequently do not affect the roots so you quickly get masses of re-growth.)
Things like brambles or thistles may re-grow elsewhere as the roots can spread for yards underground. With these, you may have to do the new grows two or three times as it appears, to fully kill all the roots.
The stuff does not affect mature trees if you get bits on the bark, but it will kill pretty much anything else so avoid it drifting to wanted growth.
For clearing most weeds out of lawns, try Verdone - it kills everything except grasses and things in that general family like wild barley etc.
Maybe a homemade molotov cocktail? Or perhaps if you get some flammable substance in a can that you spray (such as isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle) and spray it in a flame, you have a flamethrower! (sort of)
Just don't burn down any houses and you will be fine.
HI BLAKE,BRING A SOLUTION OF ABOUT 1 CUP OF SALT IN 2 CUPS OF WATER TO A BOIL. POUR DIRECTLY ON THE WEEDS TO KILL THEM. YOU CAN ALSO SPREAD SALT DIRECTLY ONTO THE WEEDS AND JUST WAIT FOR THE RAIN TO DO THE JOB FOR YOU.
Recently movd into a new house and the garden was a mess! -about 3ft high weeds and thorny vines everywhere.
I dug it all up and turned all the soil over. But ive noticed the weeds are starting to grow back again!
What's the most lethal way to kill them and make sure they don't come back?
**IMPORTANT BIT: I want to be able to plant grass seeds too this summer in the same soil. -So make sure your method wont make my soil sterile.
However, if you have an awesomely lethal method that would do the above, would composting the top of the soil then planting grass seed work?
