most dorms have vacuums you can borrow, otherwise buy a cheap lightweight one-there's little to no storage in most dorms

Carpet or bare floors?

Basically something that's inexpensive and doesn't take up too much space. And I'm terrified of bugs and usually resort to vacuuming them up lol, so I'd prefer one with maybe a hose? As long as it's not just a floor vacuum, that'd be nice. I need to be able to vacuum corners and small crevices. Thanks!
