Boric Acid is not killing the ants!?

The ants that eat it will die. But the colony is usually so large, it can take awhile before you notice a reduction in their numbers.

Ants are indeed very hard to get rid of. Being social insects the best products to use are what are known as "non repellants". Unfortunately church lady would end up having a worse problem because diatomaceous earth would get rid of the ones it gets one but the ants will send out a pheromone and one will split the colony and now have a worse problem. That is why people have this issue year after year. So, to get rid of them you first need to find the colony. 95% of the time, the problem is coming from outside the home. Look under masonry(bricks, pavers, etc.), under bushes, and rocks. If you find the colony you will get immediate results. If you don't you can still get rid of them, it will just take longer. Next, look for a product that has one of these 3 ingredients in them. Indoxocarb, Fipronil, or Imidicloprid. Imidicloprid is the easiest to find but it is the least effective of the three. Only use one of these 3. Virtually on others available to home owners are repellants and although it will initially look better the problem will be made worse. Fipronil will be the best product. It sometimes comes in a syringe in a think paste and even rarer in a liquid format. Now the next thing is the toughest part. You are going to have to spend some time looking at the active ingredients on the different products. Completely ignore what the sticker on the product is telling you what it is supposed to be used for. That is only for the manufacturer's marketing scheme. Look for a product that has one of the 3 ingredients and then treat.

The next option is to call an exterminator and insist that they use a product called termidor. Or go online and buy a bottle of termidor yourself but it is pricey. But remember, you get what you pay for.

The recipe for the ant killer was proportioned so the ants can eat it and then take some back to the nest and this can take a few days, depending on how many ants are in the nest. There can be 3,000 ants.

These are probably not sugar ants. They are probably what my grandma called grease ants. Just get some diatamacious earth and sprinkle it on them and the trails they use. It cuts them and causes them to die. Some will get tracked back to the nest and the ants in the nest will die from it. Don't let small children inhale it or eat it, same for pets.

There is a form of diatomaceous earth that does not have the insecticide in it. Order it from Amazon. It is just plain and won't harm pets or kids And it is your best bet.

Hi, I have a large group of small black ants that have invaded my kitchen and family room. I followed an online recipe for boric acid in a sugar syrup. They are eating it like crazy and have been for about 10 days now. Still swarming with ants. I know they take it back to the nest, but seriously, they survive boric acid? Anyone have any suggestions?
