Bought a home, renovating bathroom but the paint keeps peeling?!?

I would consider putting up dry wall. You have tried your best to do the sanding-painting technique without success so this is your next step. Obviously they mixed two types of paint that were not compatible. HOWEVER, make sure there is no water leaking from plumbing or from the roof before you take your next step.

I would make the investment of taking these old walls down and having them drywalled. They're probably mildewed and moldy anyway. Start fresh.

It appears the bath room walls/ceiling has too many coats of paint on them, therefore, strip ALL of the paint and start all over again.

I wonder if you might be painting latex in top of oil based or vise versa.

It's probably the type of paint you're painting over. Maybe use a paint stripper then Prime the walls really well before trying again.

if those walls were painted with oil based enamel paint and you are using water base LATEX .. that is the problem .... you can paint over latex with oil base enamel and it will stick just fine == it does not work the other way .... the best paint experts are at those name brand stores == pick one -- Sherwin-Wms - Valspar - Behr - DuPont and take some photos and paint samples with you -- scrape the wall to get those samples ..... Lowe's and the HoDepot both have good intel&info [[ be sure you talk to the Paint Center Captain or manager ]] I think that you really have the wrong paint and perhaps you were trying to save a bit === you need to paint over and scrape 1st ,, then use "" KILZ "" primer and paint with what you want ....

You've either got moisture in your ceiling or a coating/paint that isn't accepting your primer. For the later remove that coating, for the former investigate the source of the moisture.

My husband and I bought a home recently a small fixer upper, just needs paint really. In one of the bathrooms the paint is so old it was chipping, the previous owners painted the walls and the ceiling in the bathroom the same color. I sanded the chipped paint areas and started painting the ceiling with a KILZ stain blocker paint that was reccomended by an associate in Home Depot. I've used the same paint to repaint all the ceilings throughtout the house works perfectly, but for this bathroom i painted the ceiling and the paint just PEELS right off, I've peeled, sanded and repainted this ceiling THREE times! What can I do to prevent this, I haven't even started painting the walls but I'm sure the outcome will be the same as the ceiling, does any painters know what im doing wrong or need to do?! The master bathroom is already painted and came out perfect, its just this one particular bathroom, do i need to use a paint thinner or stripper on the ceilings and walls and paint again?!? Please help! Thank you!
