I saw an article the other day about this, let me check my history real fast and I will get back with the link
I recently just purchase a large plot of land in Wyoming with a friend of mine with the intent of building, give or take, my dream home (my friend wants to live in a caboose with a fire stove).Seeing as our land has no power to it unless we use solar power or generators, I decided that I would build my house with the main adjective of building smart and save on money (thinking green).
Within my house design, I want a basement large enough to have a socializing "Bar" area with a room that will have a closet and bathroom. Since I will have to supply my own power to my house, I decided that I want to have an adobe brick-Insulated concrete form-adobe brick wall configuration to allow my house to cool naturally during the summer and keep the heat in during the winter and strong enough of a natural disaster. I will not have any important piping or tubing in or on the top of the foundation, but suspended in the rafters in the basement for easier access to.
My question is, is the desired foundation configuration too much for natural cooling and being green or is that about right? Thank you for your opinion and have an awesome day.
