You wouldnt be the first to eat from crazed pottery so I wouldnt worry about it

We have a set of old Real McCoy bowls. They are the classic cream colored bowls with pink and blue strips. You probably have a set yourself--very common.
They aren't made anymore, but ours are still in everyday use. These great heavy bowls last forever. However they have developed some dark cracks, and we are concerned about whether they are still safe to use. No telling what's darkening the cracks. Mold?
First question: Are we right to be concerned, or are they still safe?
Second question: If the cracks are a problem, any way to make them safe by cleaning?
Third question: Is it possible to just reglaze and fire these bowls to reseal the cracked areas? Will that be a permanent fix?
I don't really know anything about making pottery bowls, but we really like these and would like to keep using them.
