Have you looked into possibly purchasing a portable closet?

Check out ebay also, I found some other items listed there you may be able to use by searching for portable closets in their search engine.
A metal smooth shelf rack, screwed into each side of the wall on top of the shelves. Easier to find what you are looking for. Keeps your clothing neat, and gives your room plenty of color.

Maybe put the winter coats in a vacuum bag?
I am going to be subletting a friends room in nyc for 2 months. She just recently moved in so basically only has a bed (and only 1 closet that is packed full with winter coats!) So right now I am trying to think of cheap ways I can store my clothes so they don't get wrinkled living out of my suitcase. Any suggestions please!
