Basic mission style...yes. Cheap ? Naa..looks solid and if its heavy? it is sturdy. May its not your style. What's going ontop the dresser a mirror and lots of junk could make it look busy....but with nothing on top maybe you are looking for a show piece or focal point. Think about it. Hope I could help

My dad was helping me pick out my first post-college bedroom set and when I saw this in the store, he gave it a thumbs down saying it was 'cheap looking' and 'too basic' when is definitely not actually cheap price wise.
