3M makes hooks that come in different sizes to hold different weight things and no need to make holes in the wall. Check at Home Depot ,Lowes or Canadian tire while you are at the above store check with the people in the paint dept. you can paint over anything now . If you cant paint the desk how about making a skirt for it and a piece of glass on top with material under the glass in a colour you like. Not sure if you are a male or female but even if you are a guy you can get sports, camo or other fabric that will work for a guy

Google pinterest for this idea made from cardboard (you can get free at grocery stores). Great headboard ideas. Also, you can wrap the desk legs in fabric strips, and tie them off for a raglan look. Tacky tape should hang the cardboard, but you can wrap it in material, with ribbons or push pins, hang notes, pictures, articles, etc.

I've got a small single dorm with a generic ugly bed, desk, and small dresser of light maple wood. I'd love to use deep reds, golds, blues, etc and dark wood to decorate my dorm (think eclectic victorian library) but I'm stuck with this damn light maple. Any suggestions? I don't even know if there's anything I can do, but I was thinking along the lines of making headboard/footboard covers, etc.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

P.S. Also, I can't make any holes in the wall but I'd like to hang stuff. Help?
