If the pool is vinyl-lined, just pull the liner out or shred it. If it's concrete-lined then the bottom and sides must be broken up. People dump the concrete walks into the pool for bulk, it takes about one truckload less of fill. Check with the city to make sure it's ok, and call a contractor.
Since codes vary from city to city and state to state call your city planning and zoning and ask the question.. If you are not sure you want them to know who you are to ask the question don't give them any of your information and don't use your home phone.
Just open the pool drain for drainage then fill it with dirt.
I am buying a new house with a horrible in-ground pool & want it gone. I would like to keep the concrete around the edges & eventually make a nice patio area, but a family member is telling me I must break up the concrete & dump it in the pool before filling it with dirt, for drainage reasons. Can I keep the concrete or should I have it busted & put into the pool? Thanks!
