Yes. I was babysitting for a family with 4 young kids. the parents worked almost everyday they just started their own business. Housework was obviously not a priority. Lovely people though
And the nice part is that it's none of your danged business how they live...
What you described is mild...you should see real squalor..
I have lived most of my life that way....
Get over it.
I am not talking about those hoarders that have rooms piled high with garbage and junk. I mean unsanitary conditions...like recently, I went with a friend to meet her friends, this couple who live in a decent neighborhood. The thing is, their yard was not mowed and tidy. Inside the house, it smelled like cat litter and the kitchen was completely covered in dirty dishes, food scraps not cleaned after slicing, spills on the floor, etc. In the dining room, the buffet was missing a drawer handle and there was junk mail and books on it. The furniture was all askew as if a whirlwind had been through. The living room furniture was stained and did not fit the room and had been arranged oddly. There were stacks of newspaper easily 4 feet high which I was told was pit there to burn in the fireplace. I went to look out the window but the panes were so dirty it was not possible to see outside. That was the rear windows. The front of the house looks basically clean from the street except the lawn. The couple were sitting watching tv and did not stop when we arrived to visit. It was almost impossible to hold a conversation. They were watching a tv show about crime scene investigation and all I could think was the house looked like one! After we left, my friend said how wonderful they are and how she has kniwn them for years. How they have been so good to her. No mention of the mess, so I did not bring it up. But it was disturbing.
