you can use ply that thin ..but it must be fixed every 6"..150mm ..and use flexible adhesive and grout
Get another tiler (or 2) to check the job and see what they think. Don't tell them what another tiler said, they might just agree instead of giving their honest opinion. You want the floor to be solid even if it is a little high. The bottom of the door can be trimmed if the floor is too high.

I want floor tiled and he said he can do it with 4mm ply and I won't have to rip bath and shower out , but my friend says 4mm ply is no good tiles won't last but I dont think i can go any thicker with ply otherwise ill have a step up to bathroom and door won't close ??? Please help don't want to be ripped off or have to do it all again
