Roaches and ants are natures janitors. If you drop a crumb you have just made a banquet to the little critters. They come to your residents because of food and weather -
if it's too cold outside they want heat. If they send out their scouts and he comes back and reports a gold mine - You have invited a few guest.
Nature will take care of the problem but if you need them out by 6 oclock when the party arrives - Then you will just have to fight with mother nature.
Boric acid and sugar.
Roaches like to stay under the cabinets in corners and crevices and inside of the walls.
Combat bait stations are better to use. They can be placed where you want them. The roaches will go inside them and eat the bait and go to where the roaches like to stay. Roaches eat their dead and when they do they die.
Clean , Clean and More cleaning . Get rid of ALL water leak . remove ALL source of food and water for roach. then you can start treating.
Get Boric acid powder from Lowes , Home depot or other place. sprinkle the Boric acid / borax powder around the edge wall behind appliance. Nook and crannies that is out of reach from the pets. Roaches only travel in the corner / edge of wall that is hidden from sight during the day time. Think where the roach will travel and apply accordingly.
Boric acid is harmless to people and pets. It kill roach because Boric acid powder will stick to the roach feet and roach will lick the powder and ingested the boric acid in huge amount. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boric_acid
