Here is a link to the manual if you don't have one: http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocument...
The older Singer sewing machines I've used have small holes on the top and front and rear of the machine for oil. Sometimes the holes are marked with red paint. Just a couple drops of light oil every few hours of use is all you need. 3 in 1 oil comes to mind.
You have to read the manual for the machine to know whether or not to oil, and where. If you don't have one, get one. Yes, you sometimes need to remove the needle plate. Lint collects under it.
I have the project runway brother sewing machine (CE5000PRW) ...i'm sure I need to oil it but I just don't know where and how! Please help...thank you!
Also when i'm cleaning my machine should I remove my needle plate? I tried to do it last time I was cleaning but the screws won't budge so i left it and I was barley able to get under the feed dogs.... :/
