Unless you can produce a witness to testify that the carpet wasn't damaged immediately before the work started, it's just your word against theirs. Make a written complaint to the firm that employed them. If they want to sell you something else, they'll be cooperative.

most reputable business will work with you on this type of stuff especially if it looks like something that really could have happened during install. If they dont and want to fight you it is your word vs theirs.

Workmen did some damage to my carpet while installing a new tv a day ago.

Noticed today the rip in the carpet...just wondering how i prove the rip in the carpet wasn't there before hand?

Is there anything in the law which specifically states this? Or any previous cases?

Obviously assuming the responsibility is on me to prove it
