Fill a large bottle with clean dry sand and mix in the lettuce seeds mix well .Then find a long rod or pole and using the pole make a long indentation in the soil. I assume You have prepared a bed in Your garden. Sprinkle a handful of the sand seed mixture into the indentation and then cover the seeds. Repeat this process about a foot away from the first planting. If You simply sprinkle the seed without mixing it with the sand it will only be adequate for a few feet . This way it will spread for many more feet and You won't have to thin it as much. Done properly one small package of seeds should do a row 20 ft long and that's why using the sand is a great idea.I use sand any time I seed as it thins the seeds out and makes everything a lot easier. Plus it doesn't hurt to add a bit of sand into Your garden.
