You need cover it with at least 3 inches of dirt, plant seed, water, and when that grows up past 3 inches it won't be flammable anymore..until then, it is.
It is not the gas that burns, it is the fumes. After the fumes have all evaporated it won't flame. Nothing will grow where you spilled for awhile. Flush the area with lots of water to help speed the ground recovery along.
gas don't burn. the fumes from the gas burn. if you smell gas, then you have a hazard. get more dirt.
