How much is carpeting?

Hi, carpet is one of the cheaper floor coverings, but prices vary depending on the type of carpet: wool, polyester, etc, the cut of the pile, the colour & fashion, the popularity of it, the type of underlay, installation and most importantly where you live. It is hard to give a dollar figure when we don't even know where you live.

Personally, I think carpeting is a good idea, as living on a concrete floor is a health hazard, unless it is sealed properly. Usually installed in garages or basements is a product called "Garage carpet" available from most large DIY stores, it is sold in 2m widths, is thin and doesn't require underlay - in fact it is very similar to an underlay. You can lay it yourself by simply cutting it with a stanley knife or sharp scissors and plonking it down on the floor or you can glue it on (but you won't get it back off again). This kind of carpet is reasonably cheap. You can also go to tthe second-hand store, as Chad suggested and get more rugs to place over the garage carpet in strategic places if you want.

if you are trying to get back on your feet... I assume you are talking about saving money to move in with your BF... I don't think I'd waste hundreds of $$$ on carpeting a basement were you will only be living in for a few months. So to a second hand store or craigslist and find some cheap used area rugs.

Styles, types, with or with out padding etc.. Carpet can start as low as 50 cents a s/f and go up from there. All depends on what you choose. Labor to install varies as well. You could even go with a loose lay or just a large rug. GL

Chad has the right idea

yes

Im moving back in with my mom for a few months till i get back on my feet & get my own place w.my boyfriend (:

The only thing is that ima be staying in the basment for the time being. Its all cement flooring & i wana install some carpeting! What are the price ranges to do this? Does it depend on the type of carpeting?
