Other than that, if you're that poor your government should have assistance or programs where you can get fans paid for or sometimes largely discounted a/c units. Check with the dhs or electric company
first do not allow any sunshine to fall into the room during the day....not onto the floor or any wall...not the ceiling......no sun in the room...big heavy curtains and if possible you could even try putting tinfoil onto the glass pane.....now at bedtime open this window to allow fresh air in ....then when it is time to go to bed ...look down at your arms, see the big dark veins?? run either very cold water over them for a couple of minutes or use an ice cube...now time to pop into bed take the left over ice wrap it into a wet face cloth and go to bed,.as you lay there trying to fall asleep use the face cloth to wipe over your face neck and those arms until you feel like falling asleep at that point place the face cloth onto your forehead....shh...nite nite...sleep well.....i grew up doing this.
Keep hair misted or wet.
Periodically, spray the face with water.
Wear a moist cotton dishtowel or paper-towel around the neck.
Use one or more fans that rotate back & forth.
IF that room is a lot hotter than the other rooms, stay out of it during the hottest times of day.
Periodically spray cotton clothing with water.
TOTALLY AVOID drinking super cold beverages, as the body reacts to the intense cold at its core by shutting down its heat dispersal systems, and begins to conserve heat, instead.
Put ice in a jar with water, and touch that against the wrists & inner arms to bring down body temperature.
Ice in containers in front of the fan will help.
You can turn your fan into an air conditioner for about 30 bucks with some tubing, a small fountain pump, a bucket and some ice. And maybe even less depending on how you choose to do it and what kind of fan you have. Get on Youtube and search homemade air conditioner or DIY air conditioner and enjoy the coolness! http://m.youtube.com/results?q=homemade%...
We really don't have a lot of money right now. One bedroom in our house is on the third floor and in the summer its pretty hot. In the winter, its pretty hot too. We have one fan right now. No AC. There is one window in the room that the kids open all the way most of the day, but it is still very hot. Any little things we can do to make some difference?
