How to deal with a stinky carpet?

I would go rent a rug doctor, get in professionally cleaned, or throw it out and get a new carpet. It is honestly not that big of a deal.

I live in a basement apartment and had a leak in my bedroom last week. I have been dealing with the maintenance guys and they are very slow to respond and all they want to do is to replace the padding underneath. They have set up a carpet blower underneath the carpet and removed part of the padding.

They took at least three days to remove the padding and they just left the carpet blower on. It really stinks in my room. I have the windows open, sprayed it with lysol, and febreeze. I can't even open my bedroom door anymore because the smell is getting so bad.

I don't think that the maintenance is doing a good job and it is starting to hurt my lungs whenever I go into my room. What should I do?
