If you can't take them back, you can lower the curtain rod 6 inches and add a matching or contrasting valence at the top to cover the gap
Not the end of the world. U can lengthen your curtains by adding either top-border or bottom-border, or both, and your curtains will look like as if they're in 1 piece of border print pattern. Pls look @ these photos for more info.

I bought these ready made curtains for my room and they're about a half a foot short. They're plain black with one narrow strip of sequins at the top. Should I extend them? Would a black and white stripe pattern at the bottom loom bad? Or should I just get new curtains?
