How to get a chipmunk out of the house?

The chipmunk in my house kept running around in a circle along the perimeter of the 1st floor, and it kept passing the patio door, which I had opened, so I didn't have to lead it to the door, but it kept ignoring the open door. I don't know why it didn't *want* to go outside.

I put peanut butter on a jar lid and placed it just outside the door and I sat quietly on the other side of the room. It took a while before it was attracted to the PB, but when it finally went outside, I got up and it ran further outside, and i closed the door.

Lowes and Walmart sell's rodent away chirpers. If you have no animals of you're own in the house they work.

LEAVE DOOR OPEN...MAKE NOISE ...CHASE IT TOWARD DOOR..

You will need: A bucket, some books or something to make a "ramp", some bait and a towel

Place the bucket in the area you last saw the chipmunk, this may be best done at night when it will be undisturbed.

Line the bottom of the bucket with the towel so it won't hurt itself.

Make a ramp for the chipmunk to climb up, use books to make steps, or a piece of wood etc.

Place the bait in the bucket and leave it.

In the morning, hopefully the critter will have fallen into the bucket trying to get the bait and won't have been able to get out.

Take the bucket outside and release the chipmunk.

This also works for escaped hamsters! Lol.

train it to fetch things for you

Yesterday I noticed a chipmunk running out my house. I tried to shoo it out by leaving the door open but every time it would get close to the door it would just run back to it's hiding place in the house. I left some cashews out leading to the door and put some outside as well; the chipmunk just took the cashews inside and hid them somewhere. I'm worried it thinks this is it's new home, is there an easier way to get it out of the house? Also, I don't really want to have traps out because I don't want to kill it, I just want it out!
