You might want to try making a 5 gallon pail mouse trap:

One of the people leaving comments underneath, states that they put vinegar in the pail, while others use water, and some antifreeze . . . depending on the situation and the desired outcome.
Mice aren't smart, though. They will visit a trap that just missed killing them the day before. . . .
However, rats won't go near anything with the human scent on it, or that has already killed a rat. (We put our rat traps in strong sunlight for a day before reusing them, and we wear plastic gloves while setting them.)
yep, you have an infestation and the entrance is behind the stove. you must seal it off.
get De-con i think its called poisen
My roommates and I have a mouse infestation. I think the area we live is just full of mice cause the house we lived before a block down had them and so did our neighbors. In our old house we simply laid out glue traps and problem seemed more or less solved. However in the is new house we were able to get maybe 3-4 but there seem to be at least 4 more mice and they ACTIVELY avoid the glue traps. The glue traps are prebaited and then we even add on bread, peanut butter or both. But these remaining mice seem to be hip to the traps. We keep a semi decent house its messy but we make sure there no food lying around which doesnt stop them from climbing powercords or somehow getting up on the counter. I found some of there holes which I know I need to plug with steel wool but it seems that a majority or the mice live/dwell in the oven. Ill constantly see when I come in the kitchen the ones on the counter run into the stovetop and the ones on the floor head under the oven. And I sleep in the living room right by the kitchen and there constant squeaking, scattering and etc drives me insane. Im constantly cleaning what appears to be droppings and them running across when we have guests is an embarrassment? Any suggestion short of an exterminator? Please help?
P.S. Please no **** about the gluetraps theyre cheap and super effective. My roommates just throw em in the dumpster when there caught but I feel bad so I drown them first which im not sure is more humane or not but oh well.
