Why don't you learn its species, and read about it. you could even keep it for a pet.
The more you know your enemy the better you can deal with it.
We used to get those huge palmetto bugs (giant cockroach) but we had those huntsman spiders that could run them down.
You should of ate it.
Hi there I to have a phobia of creepy crawly's and other insects like that. so I know exactly how you feel. and answering your question I would say the most humane way to kill the so called ''cockroach'' would be to just get a shoe and hit it as hard as you can. and it will be dead and suffer no pain.
does this mean I have more? - possibly, or it could just be a stray cockroach just looking for some food or shelter.
What can I do to prevent this? - the main reason why cockroaches would come into your house is because there must be old food, such as bread crumbs or bits and pieces which are perfect food for them. also take note on small cracks in walls and window seals. they can very easily get in through there
Additional info? - I would suggest some more internet research or read up about them on www.wikipedia.com
Hope this helps. Chris
I was laying in bed with a dim lamp on when I noticed something large and black scurrying across the floor. I assumed it was a spider. However, it was moving much faster and it could even JUMP! Quickly I turned the lights on, but it disappeared from sight. I ran to my bathroom to get a bin, wrapped a plastic bag around it, & I went back to my room. I found the bug again and with the help of my flashlight app, managed to guide it away. This actually took about 30-60 minutes of me chasing the damn thing around but finally I dropped the plastic bag lined bin atop the bug. With some research I learned that this was a cockroach. It was long and jet black and frankly made me want to **** myself. I HATE bugs. Spiders and ants I can deal with but this creature of satan made me homicidal. I'm too afraid to kill it, so it's still in my room under the plastic bag/bin. Recently we had a leaky sink and I read that could cause cockroach invasions? However, we got that fixed and this was the first I've seen in over 16 years of living in my home. I also looked around and tried to find some of their droppings because I read online that could be a sign of more, didnt find any. I haven't eaten in my room for a long time because I don't want bugs. How come I found the cockroach in my room? :( I really really am praying there aren't any more. I guess what I'm asking is
How do I kill the one I found?
Does this mean I have more?
What can I do to prevent this?
