^^ This one is a lot more creative and advanced than the one I use currently, but It looks almost like ones you would buy for double the cost to make it. You can always buy one if you want to save the time though.
You would not need to put the line from the filter outside, the filter would eliminate all the smell if it's a good one or at the least greatly decrease the smell. The old air can be let out in your room, but it's important to have new air coming into your grow tent as well so it's constantly being recycled. Best of luck.
Ive grown multiple times and all I can tell you is that its almost impossible to stop the plants from stinking up the house if you have them inside for the entire grow period. The best way I found was that I had a tent setup and there was an "airlock" so that you had to go through 1 zipper door into a small enclosed room and then pass through another zipper door to get into the growing area. I had a filter setup in that airlock to help clean the air and it was ducted to a window close by for fresh makeup air. The 2 door system helped cutdown the amount of air transfer between the growing area and the main house. This was not a complete solution and the house still smelled but it helped.

I really need something to kill the very pungent smell coming from my room as I have a grow tent with a marijuana plant in it, it's just one plant and it smells so strong that my house mates in the whole house can smell it...
I live in a hostel but it's a shared house if you know what I mean (small hostel) and share with 5 people...
When I open my bedroom door, it's very strong and overpowering to the people who do not like the smell of weed in the house.
I wanted to get a carbon filter but I'm worried about where the old air will go. I'm growing the plant within a grow tent in a built-in wardrobe in my room and I can't stick the carbon filter tube out my window as I live on the main high road... it would just look all too obvious.
Could you please tell me if this air purifier and ioniser will help eradicate the smell of marijuana plant/s that are growing indoors?

Also If I get a carbon filter and put it inside my grow tent, how do I set it up so that it can work? Could I just keep the carbon filter running in my grow tent without having to open the windows? Are carbon filters and fans expensive to run? Would anyone notice on the electricity bill?
