You don't indicate where you are located, and this is important. The brown recluse is only found in a region, south central US.
The recluse has no patterns on its abdomen, and is often lighter in color to the rest of the spider.
There are no obvious hairs or bands, or transitional shading on the legs.
The 'violin' pattern on the carapace is not the best key to identifying these spiders, and many harmless spiders may appear to have such pattern.
The key, is in the eyes, and not many people like to get close enough to see the eye pattern, which is 6 eyes in 3 pairs, called diads.
Here is a site that will help you identify this if it is a recluse.
Keep in mind, there are many harmless spiders that often are mistaken for recluse, so sadly, they get squished before they are identified:

As for their range, here is a map, and no red, means no recluse:

If the recluse does not key to your little friend, perhaps a decent photo posted on spider ID sites such as spiders dot us, the experts there can tell you what spider you have in your building.
Just a note, but the brown recluse spider is probably the most overhyped animal on the planet, and my aunt lived 30 years in an infested house without incident.
So my wife found a spider in the bathroom and we were seriously worried about it being a brown recluse spider. We have kids in our apartment and it is worrying us and I can't identify it very well. It's still alive in a cup and I wish I could take it somewhere but have had no luck with any results online so let me tell you about it. When I hold it up to the light in the cup and it isn't moving it has a solid light brown and kind of reddish color to it (I don't know if it's slightly red due to the light though) and it's legs and body are the same color. But it's butt is much darker and has some kind of black design to it which I cannot distinguish. It also has some kind of thing design on its back but I can't tell if it looks like a violin or not. I have contacted my apartment and they are looking into pest control for us but I'd like to figure it out sooner due to my children's safety. Anyhelp would be much appreciated or if I could get a number I could talk to someone with to figure it out. It's still alive as of right now and isn't going to escape. It's in a clear glass cup with duck tape on the top of it so It can't escape. Thanks ahead of time! Good day!
