he wood may have a moisture barrier under it, at least it should, but you could just go over it as long as it is sound (no loose spots) just use the underlayment for the laminate flooring

just guessing they may have added the wood as a thermal break for the cold concrete floor

in basement, I am going to replace carpet with new laminate, I have removed the old carpet and its under-layment, now I found there is a wood sitting there , seems pine wood, should I remove this pine wood and place laminate directly on concrete with barrier between or put laminate on original pine wood with barrier sheet between. ?? confused, thx for your answers
