i found a cool looking mirror in my mom's garage. the frame is made of a really firm foam. it has a gold colored paint, but a green substance has grown in some of the crevices. i brushed most of it off with soapy water, but some still remains.

i want to paint it white even though some green stuff (tarnish maybe??) is still there...

is it safe?
