So turn to the section in the manual labeled something like "free motion embroidery" or " quilting" or "mending" and learn where the switch is that raises the feed dogs. Change the feed dogs to the "up" position. Clean the snarls out of the bobbin case and shuttle area of the machine; rethread from scratch with the presser foot raised when you thread the upper part of the machine. Raise the bobbin thread. Set the stitch length to something like 4 mm. Hold the ends of the bobbin thread and top thread together behind the presser foot. Start the seam by dropping the needle into the fabric,, then dropping the presser foot. Take a few stitches. Let go of the top and bobbin thread ends after about 3 stitches. You should get a good seam with regular stitches.
If the presser foot pressure is adjustable on your machine, set it to about half pressure to start with.
Start the setup from scratch, follow the manual step by step as the lat answerer says you may not have it set up right.
Are you sure you have the bottom bobbin in right ?
Same thread top and bottom ?
Tension set right?
I have the same problem, I have tried again and again setting it uo checking everything...
I just set up my new Janome sewing machine, bobbin loaded, thread wound through, all good. But when I start to sew the fabric is not moving. It looks like the teeth of the feed dog are not high enough to grab the fabric. I've checked the feed dog is raised, frankly the drop lever doesn't seem to move the feed dog up or down. Help!
