there are bound to be little pockets of water on leaves etc when you dog gets out of the pool mosquitos don't need much water to lay their eggs.
keep the area around the pool sprayed.
Go to HD or Lowes or Sears Hardware and get Mosquito Dunks. They look like a donut and kill mosquito larvae. If your worried about the dog eating it put it into a tea ball or something like that which the dog won't bite. If you put it in something porous you can remove it while the dog is in and replace it at night.
A small amount of kerosene in the pool will form a small layer on top and prevent them from breeding however they are breeding in stagnant water elsewhere and coming to your pool. Find where they breed and apply kerosene.
Kiddie pools are small. Change the water daily.
Your dog will have clean water and no mosquitos.
use a couple small chlorine tabs like they use in pools. make sure the dog doesnt get it
Cover the pool with a plastic tarp. They can't lay eggs in water that is not available. Or get a sprinkler--that way you won't have to worry about standing water anywhere.
you have to circulate the water. moving water will keep them away.
Hi! I recently got a kiddy pool for my dog to cool off in because our house doesnt have AC and it gets hot during the summer. My main concern is mosquitos breeding like crazy. I don't want to have to dump out the water every night and re-fill it. Does anyone know any pet-friendly ways to keep mosquitos from breeding in my pool?
