Crimson is fine. But, why don't you try pairing it with purple?

Okay i'm repainting walls of my music room in college and i've already selected a light yellow shade color for 3 of the walls(it was the only colour available with the mgmt.).I want a contrasting darker shade colour that goes well the light yellow and gives some definition to the room.I was thinking crimson shade would do but i'm not sure and neither am I good at this.If you need any more details about the room then please do tell coz I have no idea what other criteria goes into deciding colours .

Please tell which darker shade colour to choose.
