So make the desk into something better looking. Sand it and paint ot or stain it a nice color. Don't waste money on a second desk. OR, if you still can't stand the original desk after you have improved it, then sell it and buy the Walmart one with that money.

I thought schools provided the desks? Seems a bit weird to me,but as the first answer said,you can turn it into a work of art with some paint & decorations.
