Question about pvb valve?

hose are test cocks, covering is nice to keep bugs and debris out , but not really necessary , tester will flush before using.. i don't know about where you live , but in florida the water dept. would mandate testing ea. year , to verify continuing functionibility most jurisdictions the water dept. tests their own , down here homeowners would get a form and call a plumber with a backflow certification to test and sign off..so to answer your question , don't do anything to this press.vac.br. as you really don't own it

Those are the bleeder valves. The caps are nice to keep dust and insects out, but that's a rare occasion. But they're not absolutely necessary. I blow out systems with compressed air here as we have winters here. Many of those caps are missing. They'll be ok. If you wanted to, you could try putting 1/4" plugs in them, but I'm not sure if the same threads as NPT pipe threads. But again, they'll be fine uncapped.

Hello. I have one of these. On the "test cocks" my model has two little plastic covers that are connected by a little plastic strap. I've noticed about half of my neighbors have them uncovered and half keep them covered. As I live in Southern nevada I don't have to drain the sprinkler or winterize it (some have suggested covering during extreme cold snaps) ...but my question is. Should I keep theses valves covered? Or is that only for them to be covered if system is drained. I thought about covering them but not tightening? Thanks for any help!
