Restore dresser?

First, wash the entire piece with a soapy wet rag. Get it clean so you know what you have to stain. Then repair and/or glue whatever needs to be repaired. Next, remove all hardware and separate drawers from the cabinet. Decide your final look for the piece, and buy the stain and clearcoat or varnish. Sand what needs sanding, and then use a damp rag to clean off all sawdust. Stain, following directions on stain can, and clearcoat or varnish when dry. I usually use fine sandpaper to smooth out the first coat, and then use steel wool after the next two or three coats of varnish. A layer of wood wax, and your done.

Hi - there are several ways you can paint your furniture - but one of the quick ways is by using Annie Sloans Paint and Wax. With this paint you do not have sand or prime the furniture. I have used this paint and wax and find that it is great and saves loads of time and looks good when completed :)

Have a look at the videos below to show you how to do it. Annie Sloan makes several colours - so just a choose a colour you like. Once you've finished painting the piece of furniture - all you need do is to use Annie Sloan's Clear Wax.

Here is Annie Sloans website - there are details on there advising where her stockists are. I have ordered on-line and in a shop. So it depends if there is a store near you or not - if not then just order on-line:)

I would also recommend her brushes - although you don't have to use her brushes if you don't want too - but they do give a good finish to the paint.

Personally it is easier to watch a video, rather than someone trying to explain how to paint your dresser.
