great i never thought of leather or canvas i think leather would be the best idea for my roll top desk sence that leather is so strong and long lasting i can find some good strap leather for mine. thanks
i recently seen a roll top desk on youtube made buy David Roentgen a 1700-1800 centery woodworker now the roll top is currently in a museum but it was a demenstration about this desk the roll top part slides open on a track. the roll top is opened buy the table that is pulled out once you start pulling on the slide out table the roll top starts to open automaticly my question is how is this done. i think its buy attaching string or rope to each of the slide out table and the back of the roll top in a certine way but thats my opinion if anyone has ever hered of this let me know how this guy would of done this here's the link
