If this created room is to be a bedroom, it needs a closet for storage. I would suggest a tall wardrobe like the ones sold at IKEA.com. This piece of furniture acts as a closet and a room divider; providing a sound barrier as well. You can also add curtains that are hung from ceiling tracks, also sold at IKEA.com. To allow light from the living room window into the kitchen/new living room space, I would suggest that the top of any curtain be sheer.
For this to work for the bedroom room mate and the household dwellers, it would be best to bank the bedroom and the living room furniture back to back on the created wall divider. Keeping the television on another wall entirely.
Hello Lisette,
A curtain room divider might work perfect with the way the walls are situated:

Hope that helps,

I had to do this once, and make 1 bedroom into 2. I used the dresser and bookcases lined up to do it.

The attached image shows the apartments layout. I need a room divider to separate the living room to make a third possible bedroom.
