Her: purple and green. You: Blues and greens.
I see a pale green (get your rug first then pick it) plus a purple and a blue which goes with it. Gather paint chips at Lowes, Home Depot or other paint stores.
Draw a line down the middle of the space, half for each of you.
I'd take the bunk beds apart and have a twin bed for each of you in the far corners (so IF you sit on the bed talking on the phone you have some privacy). I'd get an amoire for each of you (free standing closet / cupboard) and stand them up so the back of one is to you and the front of the other. Make a WALL between the two of you. Get some old doors. Put hinges on both doors so they hold together and can stand up. Hook three together and you will have an almost solid wall.

I like the colors in this blog example, too!!!
Paint the walls green on the sides of the room you share. Paint the wall you don't share -- purple for her and blue for you. Be sure her purple has a little blue in it. Be sure the three colors go together. Look for matching bedspreads which have all three colors OR get a plain color one in purple and blue or matching ones in green.
Once you get the turf marked off, do what you want with your end of the room. In the walk area between the two areas, establish a sitting area. Get several bean bags in colors which match the triad of green, blue and purple.
For lights, you need regular lamps. You'll need an end table by each bed and another lamp between some of the bean bags. Get lamps that match your personal style and something simple and modern for the one in the common area. Get some used wood furniture and paint it. Maybe YOU could have a purple chair or end table; she could have one in blue (to coordinate). A floor lamp might be nice with the bean bag chairs (to add some height).
If you have a desk, also get a small lamp for the desk. For her make up area she will need "good" task lighting or a retro lighted make up mirror.
If throw rugs are in the mix, get smaller ones for beside the beds which coordinate--green again.
As you like sports you need a big hamper for your gear. Put some hooks on the hall for packs, etc. For her, smaller hooks for her jewelry and girlie stuff. She'll need some stack-able drawers for all her makeup and accessories. HER storage will be smaller in scale than your.
I think some driftwood attached to the wall could work for both of you for jewelry and things.
Hang a pin up or bulletin board in cork so you each can attach things which fit your personal style.

http://www.carlyleavenue.com/ has lots of really beautiful decor for the home! I would definitely take a look at the lamps, clocks, and decorative accessories!
Okay so my dads girlfriend is moving into our house, and now I have to redo my room, and share it with her daughter. We're both really really excited, and only have faint ideas on what to do. Now the only problem is we're complete opposites. We're basically Liv and Maddie. Lol. Some paint colours would be nice. Furniture ideas? Links? I'll give additional info about us and the room too.
First of all, we're both grade eight Canadian girls. But she's really girly. She loves, and I mean LOVES her makeup and hair, all that crap. she's into all the brand names, PLL, and Starbucks. She just likes fitting in, and is always trying her best to be a tumblr girl. Her favourite colours are purples and greens.
Me on the other hand? I'm so simple it's complicated. I couldn't care less about what Bethany Mota's up to. I love playing sports, sweatpants, snapbacks, swimming, and camping. I also have a soft spot for the beach bum look from everything to jewelry, to room decor. Blues and greens are preferable too.
And for the room, it's pretty big. We have tons of room for furniture. It's in the basement, so the lighting is pretty bad. We have to do bunk beds, and we would really enjoy a spot to hang with beanbag chairs. Thank you so much, I really enjoy your time and effort. Xx
