Sage smudging make me choke.There is no reason for it.
Try a Febreeze candle instead.
Smudging doesn't do anything for an apartment. It doesn't bring good luck or ward off any spirits. Just use your head… why would you think sage has special powers? It doesn't, it is just an old wives tale. Buy some Febreze instead… it smells better and it won't make your neighbors hate you.
Assuming you are renting, it would be best to speak to the landlord / owner on this topic.
Some will allow smudging, while others will not.

I will be moving into a relatively new apartment that used to be an old factory at the end of this month. I have heard and read a bit about sage, and want to smudge my new place with sage. There are two windows on the wall opposite the front door. The building is small with only 10 units... only 3 on my floor. I'm a bit nervous to leave the door wide open and for the smell to fill up the building. Can I do this myself, should I have someone with me, and should I do this before or after I start moving in?
I'm not overly religious, but I believe in some higher power and spirits.
