My pool is a little larger - 6,000 gallons. I bought an Intex saltwater system from WalMart that I love. You just adjust the amount of salt for the number of gallons of water your pool holds. Even though it may seem like a little overkill, your pool will stay very clean, reducing your manual cleaning time. Also I think I paid about $200.00 for the system and salt was about 8-9 dollars per bag.

My wife and I just bought the Summer Escapes 12'x30" metal framed above ground pool, and we want to get a saltwater pump for it. We know you can use Intex parts, but what exactly do we need? I keep hearing that the stock pump that comes with the pool is crap and should be replaced, but what pump should we get that will work with an Intex saltwater system?

Also, the only Intex systems we can find are for 7000gallons+, but our pool is only pushing about 2500 maybe. That seems overkill, PLUS it doesn't come with a pump. Any suggestions? I know this question is asked a lot, but I don't see any answers for such a small pool like ours.
