Self Employed Floor Fitter?

Sorry no,nothing you can do. Tough lesson and as another poster said, you should always do a deposit and a written contract..This shows good faith on the customers part and yours.. GL

Always take a deposit. If they won't do that ask them to buy some materials in advance. You could try for compensation, but don't hold your breath.

Hi, I recently quoted a customer for fitting of approx 40 sq metres of flooring, I sent the lady a paper quote, she agreed to the quote and I booked her in for 4 days work.

She has now cancelled with less then 12 hours notice (Phoned me at 9:30pm on a Sunday, was supposed to begin work at 8:30am the next day!) Can I charge her anything for wasting my time? I'm not talking about money I quoted her for fitting, but something to recover my expenses, i.e petrol and the fact I had actually bought a few materials in preparation for the job, All in all I wasted about £60 in petrol and materials.

Nothing was signed between the two of us, just a verbal agreement to begin work on a set date, for 4 days.

Any help or information would be great. Cheers.
