Should I down grade my bed from queen to twin.?

Going from a 60 inch wide mattress to one which is only 39 inches wide will take time for you to adjust. While you mention the small mattress in a sleeper cab, sleeping on one every night will be a change.

A twin XL mattress is 39 inches wide by 80 inches long, which would keep the comfortable length you have been sleeping on with the queen size mattress. Another way to keep that extra length would be a full XL size mattress (54 inches wide by 80 inches long). If mattress length is not a concern, there are always the standard 75 inch long twin or full size mattresses.

There is also a 3/4 sized mattress (48 inches wide by 75 inches long) which is used on thinner antique bed frames. These are custom manufactured mattress and box spring sets.

Even after you change the size of the mattress, you will still need a different place to sit while eating a meal. Otherwise you will break down the side of the new mattress. Hope you discover an arrangement which will be both comfortable and functional, and protect the mattress.

A twin is 75" long whereas a queen is 80" long so you will be losing 5". Depending on your height and how you sleep you might not notice this loss of length. It would be nice to have the extra space in your living area. If you are tall you won't be comfortable with your feet hanging over so you should then look for a twin xl mattress which is 80" long.

A twin is almost the same length (sometimes) but with less room to roll around. In my opinion, spending a little extra on a quality twin would be much more beneficial than spending more on a crappy queen size. Or you go for a full which is in the middle.

Go for since yours isn't comfy, and the other bed is free.

Ok so my bed is a queen and it takes up a lot of space in my room. I live in a community home (renting the bedroom) and I cook in the kitchen but eat in my room. I have to use the bed as a chair and two years of sitting on the edge has collapsed. The mattress was cheap anyway and the springs have made it lumpy. I am also in school to be a truck driver and the bunk in the sleeper isn't much bigger than a twin on most company trucks.

My cousin is also wanting to replace the twin sized guest bed (that has only had myself and his mother in law sleep on) with a queen sized bed. I wanna down grade but I'm nervous about it.
