Save up and get the English ones you like. We didn't do as much of that in this country as they did, nor were they as ornate as the English ones were, where they used them for a much longer period of time than we did.
I think you're referring to their gas heaters which were made to look like fireplaces. In some rentals you put in coins and it heated for as long as the coins paid for.
If you mean some kind of mantelpiece in iron, call salvage yards and ask, or antique stores.
If you want to install a wood burning fireplace its a really expensive hassle but talk to the people at woodburning stores to get a better idea of what it would entail. You may just want to install a gas fireplace but even then I'm not sure if the modern units would fit into an Edwardian front.
thanks..i decided on a 19th century..franklin style stove..orate and from new England..2000 $ but cheaper than a fireplace..but I do love the English iron fronts!
hello..i have a 50s home that was built without a fireplace. I would like to install one. I have little by little added old Victorian windows and doors..and made the interior have an old feeling with doric columns and giving the home more character.. I would like to buy an iron fireplace front..Victorian or Edwardian.. a bedroom iron fireplace which is a good size but perfect for a smallish living room..would the builder use this as a stepping stone..i really like the iron fireplaces from uk but are pricey to ship.. if anyone knows where I can buy iron fireplace fronts in usa..I would appreciate it..these iron fronts are beautiful and now want nothing else.
