You might want to check and see if you have some sort of 'entryway' or burrowing hole that leads under your house. Skunks like to hide out there. When they are under there, IT SMELLS. Pier and beam houses are particularly susceptible. My father had them under his house and had to catch them in traps and have them 'moved out' (yes, there are people who will transport skunks and relocate them for a living). You certainly don't want it to die under there. The it will smell forever. As soon as all the offending animals are gone (if there's more than one...a mom with a litter?) the hole must be blocked off immediately and thoroughly. I'm talking rocks, bricks....they might still try to dig around it but eventually they will leave for easier housing. Skunks can wander long distances, and are territorial, 'marking' their turf, so this may a new animal who had to expand out to find a new home. If your house isn't pier and beam, they might be under a nearby shed. They eat mice , bugs and scorpions, so any recent explosion in these food supplies might bring them in.
It could be marijuana..does someone in your house smoke pot?
Recently at night my house has been plagued with a DISGUSTING skunk smell. It gets strong at random times, and since I am so sensitive to smell I am getting NO sleep. Skunks aren't really that common in my area... So what else could it be? And how can I get rid of it ASAP?
