Check around for the thermostat. It could be in a drawer.
The thermostat plugs into the base plate.
If you cannot find the thermostat, possibly the previous tenants took it with them.
Report the missing thermostat to the home owner or to whomever you pay the rent.
Do NOT jumper any of the wires/connection as you can damage the Furnace and/or the Air Conditioner controls. If you do this, the owner could bill you extra for the repairs.

that just the thermostats base , when you buy a new thermostat it will come with its own base (mounting plate) and the terminals will be mark telling you where to put each wire
So me and my family just moved into this house. We're renting it so we don't know how much we can do to the house but this was already here. The picture shown is how it came, already set up. We want to know how we can get the cooling to work, since right now I'm pretty sure that it's just the heat that works.
Can we do this by ourselves or would we have to hire someone? If we can just set it up so that the cooling works, what would be have to do?
