You could use several small rugs or a few large rugs to cover the carpet. You could have your parents look into a company that dyes carpets, perhaps there is some method for lightening it. You could offer to pay for the flooring yourself.
maybe burning a few holes in the carpet will change their mind

Poor baby.
My older brother just moved out. I'm 14 and finally getting my own room ! But the room has UGLY green carpet. and my parents just refuse to put hard wood flooring down. We are going today to buy the paint for the room and I wanted it pink and green but not dark green.. and none of my stuff match it. so what are some ideas to redo the room in if they refuse to change the carpet ?!
