Using a gas range with electronic ignition?

an it be used in a power failure?

i assume the ones that have the digital settings can't.....correct?

but if its a 5 knob range...can it be used in a power failure?

The egniter is usually a piezoelectric igniter - A piezo egniter doesn't need electricity - It is similar to some cigarette lights or piezo eginters on propane camping stoves.

Now I don't know if electricity is needed to light the heater through some sort of electrical circuitry - but if so an extension type of lighter for fireplaces, etc. seem to work without a volt of any sort.

Why not disconnect the electricity and try to see if it will light without it?

Just a thought!

By disconnecting the electricity he means unplug it if there is any electrical cord or just turn off the breaker that is labeled stove. . No need to shut down the whole house

The burners will work, but not the oven as it has an electric thermostat.

Probably, but you'll have to light the burner with a match or a lighter.

Yes all what you need is a cigarette lighter.
