I have a feeling that your problem is worse than you think. Your habits on taking care of your stuff is commendable, and a lot more than I do and I do not have anything like the problem you have anywhere in my house. My house is brick exterior all the way around, nothing gets in that. Do you have a attic or at least a small crawlspace above your room? Go up there. Wear. a. Mask. And. Gloves. And. Long. Sleeves. (cause there is insulation up there and it itches!). Go check for dead creatures above your room, insulation out of place or "tufted, torn, fluff" where it shouldn't be. Lift it up and you may find a dead mouse or squirrel, which may be the cause of your problem. Look for the hole it got in, seal it, problem solved.
If it isn't that, it could be a wall issue. Do you have wallpaper in your room or bathroom? Have it removed ASAP. There could be mold behind it, invisible behind wallpaper. A professional can give you ideas as to what needs to be done to fix it from there (Or just ask Y!A again, I'm sure you'll get a good answer or five)
If it isn't mold in your walls, check under the floor carpeting if you can (at least try to pull up and peek under loose corners) and really SNIFF the carpet all over the place. It could be rot, something dead under the carpet in a corner you don't walk in, it could be mold/bugs/termites/whatever.
If all else checks out fine, Febreeze the hell out of your carpet, and install a fan in the bathroom or get into the habit of opening the window a crack after you shower.
Well I have no idea. Sounds like someone spilled something on the carpet and it went bad and is smelling.
Either that or someone below or possibly above you had something stinking that's going through the floor.
im smelling this weird odor thats comes and goes. i smell it for about 10 sec every 2-5 min. i cant really describe the smell but its making me queasy. please tell me wats the cause and how to get rid of it. i live in an apartment building if that helps at all
